1962 Morris Mini Van ‘smooth roof’ In Factory Smoke Grey. This mini van was bought new from Badger Garage in Blandford. It was used of the first 8 years and it was then put into storage. It was sold to a local man in 2012 who spent the last 9 years restoring it. So this is a 60 year old van with just 2 owners from new! I can see why it has taken him 9 years to finish the van. After a chat with his wife who knows the level of perfection his will except I can imagine every stage would take a very long time. He spent 3 days perfecting the way the doors fitted and closed! Every part has taken time and care to get it ’just right’. He was explaining to me that it is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ and there is no other way. After the body was restored it was injected with Dinitrol so this van should last another 60 years. The original 848 cc engine has been replaced by  a 998 cc with a Brett Sims modified cylinder head, unleaded, gas flowed and bigger valves. It has 1.3 roller rockers, 266 cam, Aldon distributer, lightened flywheel and back plate, twin 1.25 SU carburettors, 3 branch exhaust manifold and RC40 exhaust. The front disc brakes are genuine Lockheed 7.5 inch with servo. Rear alloy spaced drum brakes with cooling fins. New adjustable suspension with negative camber bottom arms and adjustable tie rods. 5 new steel Cooper S wheels with 5 new Blockley tyres. The interior is all Newton Commercial with reclining front seats. Additional oil pressure and water temperature gauges plus map light. It was set up on the rolling road by Slark Racing and produces 53.2 BHP. It is very similar to a 998 cc Mini Cooper in the way it drives due to similar running gear.

This is a unique 60 year old, 2 owner Mini Van in Factory Smoke Grey which has been restored to a level rarely seen making this an individual and very special Mini Van.
