1997 Rover Mini Cooper S Works 5 Speed in rare Graphite metallic. This super rare and very collectable Mini was bought new from John Cooper Garages as a Cooper S Speed 5 which was one of the best models available at the time. In 1999 John Cooper then offered the S Works kit and the mini was taken back to him and upgraded to S Works 90 bhp specification. I have all of the supporting paperwork and invoices. The 5 speed gearbox is a very rare and costly option costing around £2000 on its own. It adds a lot of performance to the mini as it is a close ratio box, making best use of the available torque more of the time. It feels more alive and still enables the mini to do 3250 rpm at 70 mph. The colour is very rare and anyone who sees it comments on the colour first. It is far lighter than the pictures show and looks lovely when parked in the sun. John Cooper Garages also fitted it with air conditioning. The interior is all in nice condition with the original dash and door capping, signed John Cooper door furniture and a very are 5 speed gear knob. It also has the correct Janspeed twin upswept exhaust which is no longer available and in good condition. These give a unique sound and have mainly been replaced due to age. This one was replaced 10 years ago when you could buy them. It has been very well maintained and serviced with over 20 dealer stamps in the book to support the mileage of 35000 miles in the last 27 years. The last owner has always kept it garaged and has enjoyed the mini for 17 years. It is very rare to find examples like this but very rewarding when you do.
