1965 Austin Mini Crayford Convertible. Crayford were factory approved to create a convertible MK1 Mini by the British Motor Company. It offers a fantastic open air fun and incredibly attractive mini which gets people smiling where ever you go. It is understood that as little as 15 of these Crayford Minis are known to the club and this has to be one of the very best. It was bought by its first owner who owned it for 50 years. It was then bought after being off the road of a number of years by its second owner who has had a ‘money no object’ restoration to a standard that I have never seen before. It is just outstanding and great care has been taken in every detail from the engine bay to the outstanding interior and wonderfully crafted hood. The panel fit is excellent with flush fit doors which close with ease. The interior is remarkable and has been tailor made and finished by Newton Commercial in their factory. It is enhanced by the rare William Dulles dashboard and the SPQR Major remote gear selector conversion which I have never seen before. The seats are supportive and there are seat belts in the front. The hood was made by a Rolls Royce trim expert and took 3 attempts to get it just right and it fits very well. There are 2 side screens which can be left in or removed and the roof operates well. The roof frame and inner lining are also a work of art and difficult to get right.
