1964 Austin Mini Moke MK 1. They started making the British Moke in 1964 and this is number 00283 out of 14500 ever made. It is understood that 90% of Moke’s made were exported so they are a very rare site in the UK. This is one of the very earliest cars ever made. It has only had 3 owners in the last 57 years. It was fully restored in 2003 my the UK specialist M Parts costing £9700 which was a lot 18 years ago. During the restoration it was also upgraded from an 850 cc engine to a more powerful 998 cc engine. It has Cooper S front disc brakes fitted and genuine Minilite alloy wheels on Yokohama tyres. These upgrades make the Moke very nippy and the cornering and braking ability stronger. It also had a new hood and the entire vehicle was rebuilt. It was painted in British Racing Green and it has not been painted since. The body is totally solid and the underside is in excellent condition. The paintwork is good and presentable with a few imperfections which is part of the charm. I have just fitted a water temperature and oil pressure gauge which is far more reassuring than no gauges at all which is standard. It shows good oil pressure and the engine is super smooth. It always starts well and is fantastic fun to drive. I have also fitted front seat belts which is does not need at this year but you do feel safer with them on!
This is a very rare and special bit of British fun which should also make a good investment.
