1970 Austin Mini MK 3 1275 Cooper S in factory Bronze Yellow. This outstanding Cooper S has had just 2 owners in 51 years! The first owner bought it in November 1970 and owned it until June 2014. It has since been owned for the last 7 years but the second owner who has brought the car up to an incredible standard with massive dedication to the project and passion to do the job to the very best standard possible. His key aim was to make the car totally dependable and usable. He has employed a Mini Specialist to replace, rebuild or refurbish all of the mechanical items from front to back. The list is too long but every mechanical item has been included. The hydro elastic suspension is fully rebuilt along with the subframes, suspension, steering, brakes, fuel system, wiring and electrics. This has all been professionally done taking 492 hours and costing £23,907. The original engine was then sent down to Nick Swift at Swiftune who are known as the worlds best for mini engines and the engine and gearbox were fully rebuild and most importantly, fully balanced by his team costing £10957.  Newton Commercial supplied the reclining seats and new rear seat cover to match costing £1875.00. When you add in what I have spent to finish the car to my standard it has had over £40,000 spent on it over the last 7 years! The end result is the best Cooper S I have ever driven. The steering, suspension and brakes are so precise and the ride is smooth and compliant with minimal rattles. The engine is a ‘master piece’ and the key is the refinement, smoothness and wonderful balance it has which adds the usability. A standard Cooper S when new produced 70 BHP at 6200 RPM, this car produces 90 BHP at 3500 RPM. A standard Cooper S has 62 Ib ft of torque  at 4500 RPM and this car produces 90 Ib ft of torque at 3500 RPM. At the same time the engine is quieter, smoother and more refined. It also has a period Webasto sunroof with fold around wind deflector which adds to the fun and lets the wonderful exhaust sound add to a summers day drive.

I have a detailed history file  for the car and I even have the original bill of sale showing that it cost £1010.00 new 51 years ago. It is now showing a total mileage of 88,400 miles. I have the original manual and and all of the receipts for the work carried out over the last 7 years. The FE body number on the inner wing dates the body to October 1970 and it was registered in November 1970 and the engine and chassis numbers match the registration document. This could be one of the very best Mk3 Cooper S minis and it brings back the real fun of driving which in my view is so lacking with modern cars. An incredibly rare and special opportunity to own and enjoy one of the best.
