1960 Austin Seven (Deluxe) in factory Ferina Grey with grey and red interior trim. This is a 3 owner 62 year old mini which I have just bought from a local owner who has stored it for the last 20 years. It starts and drives with the engine showing 70 PSI oil pressure at idol. It has covered 105000 miles from new and I have a nice history file of past MOT’s and old invoices. It has its original bill of sale and warranty card which is priceless. The past owner bought the mini in 1996 and prepared the car for a European road trip. He drove the mini to Monte Carlo and I have the photographs of the mini on its way. After this trip it was put in a relatives barn and dry shored since 2002. It has been occasionally started but not driven on the road for 20 years. It is being sold as a ‘barn find’ project for someone to bring back to the standard that they wish. The body is solid with some areas of rust and welding required The floor pans and boot look to be good and the front floor pan has its it original body number. It still has its smooth sills and all of the panel gaps are good. I would say that it has had a new front end at some stage and the rear subframe looks immaculate so must have been replaced. Being an early Mini it has dry suspension which makes the suspension easier to service. It still has its steal rear radius arms and trumpets. It has some additional gauges and electrics which are non standard and not all of the switches work. There is a good amount of work and time needed to make the car reliable and roadworthy again and everything will require checking and refurbishing. Clearly there is no warranty of any description and the buyer needs to fully understand that they are taking on a restoration project.
