** DEPOSIT PAID ** 1973 Austin Mini 1275 in black with part leather interior trim. This mini has been owned by the same family for the last 31 years. During this time it was restored and received a newer 1990s body shell which is very solid and sound. It also would have had a 998 cc engine but this has been updated to a 1275 cc engine from a Mini Metro. The end result is a period early 70s tax exempt car with a newer shell and newer more modern engine making it more comfortable at modern driving speeds. It has 10 inch wheels on new Yokohama A008 tyres which makes it corner very well. The body is in great condition with solid sills and floors and it has a very shiny coat of black paint. Due to the paint shop I use having a back log of work I am offering this mini at an attractive price with some minor cosmetic touch-ins which do not effect the overall look of the car and can be rectified over time. These I have photographed for you to see. Free delivery to your door in my enclosed van within 200 miles of Tiverton.

1961 Austin Seven Mini in factory Tartan Red. This mini has been owned for the last 41 years by Philip Splett. Philip has helped to run the Mini Cooper Register for the last 35 years including being chairman. His passion for Minis lead to him owning many over the years but he always kept 3 right up to the stage where he is no longer able to comfortably drive them. He has driven the minis all over Europe and can now think back over the great times he had had driving them. This fantastic mini is just a joy to see and drive. It has all of its original body panels which after 58 years is just remarkable. It has always been driven and enjoyed and made regular trips to France. Prior to Philip buying the car back in 1978 it was owned by a BMC engineer who worked in the Austin factory. When the 998 cc engine was introduced he fitted a new one to the mini in the factory as there is a noticeable power advantage. He also fitted some lovely additional gauges inside to include water temperature, oil pressure and amps. These are all very old now and have a great patina to them. Everything works as it should and the interior feels so special and original. The sunroof adds an additional fun factor to the car. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt by Roger Hill in 2009 and it has covered 2000 miles since. This is the smoothest A series engine I have ever known. This is also the best MK 1 mini I have ever driven. It feels tight and precise while giving a smooth ride and great ability to waft along with the roof back on a sunny day. I have 30 past MOT certificates, all of the past log books inc the original buff log book. An original owners manual, a Heritage Certificate plus pictures and receipts. This is a very special original 58 year old mini which will give many hours of fun and enjoyable summer trips. Free delivery to your door in my curtain sided van within 200 miles of South Molton.

1973 Austin Mini, Cooper Car Company replica. This mini was created in 1976 and was the first replica made of the Works Cooper Cars. It has been owned for the last 43 years by Philip Splett. Philip has helped to run the Mini Cooper Register for the last 35 years including being chairman. His passion for Minis lead to him owning many over the years but he always kept 3 right up to the stage where he is no longer able to comfortably drive them. He has driven the minis all over Europe and can now think back over the great times he has had driving them. This famous mini has been driven by John Cooper, John Rhodes and Michael Bowler (ex Jaguar racing driver test drive report inc). It has been featured in many hard back books and magazines (including Jeremy Waltons guide to the Coopers) which are all included in the history file. It was first registered as PHR 161M and then had a number plate change to 007 848 which is included with the car. The car has been regularly used and when not in use well stored and meticulously maintained and cared for. This is not a restored car and is in original and wonderful condition. The common areas of corrosion like the front wings, sills and floors are all original and still their body numbers or original spot welds. Mechanically this is a fast and very sorted car. It goes, stops and handles very well and this is a car that you will just take out for a drive for fun. The engine has recently been rebuilt by Roger Hill and is a balanced 1380 GT engine with Cooper S cylinder head and gearbox. It has a Swiftune SW5 cam, cross pin diff, twin 1.5 inch carbs and produces a claimed 93 BHP. It has covered 1000 miles since the rebuild. The brakes are Cooper S 7.5 inch discs with an internally located servo. Corning is helped by wide Minilite GB alloy wheels with matching Yokohama A008 tyres. It has Spax shocks absorbers, adjustable suspension and a rear anti roll bar. The interior has supportive period Corbeau seats, Safety Devises rear cage and an additional rev counter. It has a period radio cassette which 70s tapes inc! The sunroof in a metal internally sliding Britax prototype roof which is very rare and works well (period sales brochure inc). It has twin fuel tanks which worked really well when touring Europe. The Brooklands green paint work is in good condition and the hand painted stripes and decals have been on the car for 43 years. The Works style roof rack is included and can easily be removed. This is a very rare and special car which is on the market for the first time in 43 years. 1972 Austin Mini Cooper 1275 S Downton Touring in Teal blue. This mini was bought by Philip Splett in 1973 and he has owned it for 46 years. This mini was delivered to Downton Engineering when on 113 miles. Downton then completely stripped the engine and rebuilt it to their standards balancing all parts as necessary. New Hs4 twin carburettors where fitted onto the Downton stage 3 cylinder head which breathed through a new modified exhaust system. The gearbox was modified by adding a central oil pick up and the flywheel was lightened. The end result was a smooth, refined, free revving engine which has now covered 50600 miles and is running wonderfully. I have all of the original Downton paperwork for the conversion to this mini. When Philip bought the car he changed the wheels to 6 by 10 Minilites with Special Tuning arches, had the suspension changed to dry with shock absorbers which was all carried out by Jon Mowatt in the 70s. The car has featured in lots of books including Jeremy Waltons Guide to the Cooper. There is a road test report of the car by Michael Bowler (ex Jaguar racing driver) and another full test drive report by John Surtees (ex F1 driver). It is the 5th to last MK 3 Cooper S ever made and Philip assures me that it is all original including the paint which after 47 years is remarkable. I do have all of the past MOTs from new as well as a fascinating history file of paperwork, magazines and photographs taken over the last 46 years. There is also a wonderful Dion Pears painting of the car which is very large and impressive and adds to this remarkable package. The original Lime Flower interior is very clean and the original carpets still look good today. The Wabasto Sunroof was fitted by Popperwells in the 70s and works very well and is in immaculate condition. The car was ordered from new with a Silent Travel Kit which was a factory option and fully insulates the interior which is still there under the carpets and in the boot. This is a once in a life time opportunity to buy a very well known Downton Cooper S from a well known owner who has cared for the car for 46 years, which is in original condition and has a remarkable history file. Free delivery to your door in my curtain sided van within 200 miles of South Molton. This mini is very hard to price due to its unique nature so is being offered with a guide price of £40,000 - £50,000 offers welcomed.
